Milia Riza was founded five years ago with a singular vision: to craft exceptional sparkling wines that truly embody the essence and character of our terroir. From the outset, we committed ourselves to fully exploring the unique landscapes and soils of Nemea, striving to understand how these natural elements could influence the quality and expression of our wines. Central to this exploration was the Agiorgitiko grape, known for its remarkable versatility and distinctive flavor profile. As we deepened our understanding of the region, we quickly realized that Nemea—defined by its unique microclimates and distinct climate conditions—offers immense potential for crafting sparkling wines that are complex and vibrant.
Agiorgitiko, traditionally known for its rich, deep red wines, has proven to be an ideal variety for sparkling wine production, thanks to its natural acidity and bright fruit character, which lay the perfect foundation for wines that are fresh, expressive, and full of depth.
In addition to Agiorgitiko, our vineyards are home to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir —varieties that are rare in Nemea but have been a natural fit for the vision of Milia Riza, complementing our range perfectly.
From the outset, Milia Riza has remained firmly committed to organic farming. We take great pride in cultivating our vineyards organically, ensuring that no synthetic chemicals are used in the growing process. Year after year, we refine and improve our practices, always striving to move towards more sustainable and environmentally responsible cultivation methods. By adhering to organic principles and adjusting to the unique challenges of each growing season, we safeguard the health of our vineyards while preserving the purity of the grapes used to craft our sparkling wines.
To further respond to Nemea's warm climate, we are implementing a replanting program across several of our vineyards, allowing us to select rootstocks and varieties that are more suited to the region’s evolving conditions. Through thoughtful vine management and innovative pruning techniques, we continue to optimize our practices, ensuring that each vine is healthy and capable of producing the finest fruit for sparkling wine production. This attention to detail, particularly with the precision required for sparkling wines, ensures that we consistently meet the highest standards.
At Milia Riza, every bottle of wine is a reflection of our deep connection to the land and our dedication to producing wines of extraordinary character. As we look to the future, we remain driven by a passion for experimentation, innovation, and excellence. Our wines will continue to capture the warmth, complexity, and vibrancy of the Nemea terroir, embodying the essence of the land in every glass. With each vintage, we are more excited about the potential of our vineyards and the unique expression of sparkling wines that we create—wines that are a true testament to the passion, precision, and commitment behind Milia Riza.

Poriá, Nemea.
37º49'47.28''N 22º38'51.41''E, 283m.a.s.l.
Located in the heart of the Nemea Wine Region, our Poriá vineyards are home to Agiorgitiko, Roditis Alepou and most recently Chardonnay. Here, the viticultural practices carried out during the year, such as canopy and irrigation management are key to achieving the qualitative parameters that we seek as Poriá is located in the warmest zone of the Nemea Region.
With 53% silt, 30% clay, 17% sand and a very high calcareous component, these soils are good to retain the small amount of water that is provided by natural rainfall and to help to keep the natural acidity of our Agiorgitiko.

Xerocambos, Nemea.
37º47'41.53''N 22º39'58.34''E, 335m.a.s.l.
Embedded in between mythical mountains which form a sort of highway for the prevailing winds, essential for the grape's health, and located just outside the small town of Nemea, our Xerocambos vineyards are ideal for the production of quality sparkling wines and are a great home to cultivate our Agiorgitiko, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The soil is a combination of 40% sand, 30% clay, and 30% silt, which together with a high percentage of soil skeleton and calcareous, create the perfect balance between water retention & drainage. Τhis is fundamental to achieving ripe grapes and allows the simultaneous maintenance of high acidity and low pH, which is also favoured by the unique conditions that exist in this very exact location. In fact, only here, where the surrounding mountains act as protectors and provide a natural shade to this particular plot, the daylight is less, making this location especially cooler during the hot summer.

Gefyraki, Ancient Nemea.

Located in the outskirts of Ancient Nemea, our Gefyraki vineyards are home to another plot of Agiorgitiko, which we use for our Azzardà Rosé. With a more clayish soil, grapes present skins with more anthocyanins and fruitier character, making them ideal to be used as the base of our Agiorgitiko Rosé.
